I didn't love it as much as the majority of people seem to love it but I trully did enjoy it. Thin red slashes made the shape of a tiny V. She's at a ball, the dirty, wounded man falls at her feet. Everyone seemed to cozy up to everyone else. He is a devil. Sort of corny in a sense, a novel that shows that love can overcome all obstacles, but then it is a fairy tale novel, isn't it. Contemporary reviews are more mixed, noting film's faults, but also praising it for various technical Once upon a winter book.
I'm thinking that Oreb might've been a bit frustrated to hold back, but overall, the book is very well illustrated and the colors are brilliant -- nice yellows and blues going on here.
