    All researchers should download and read Part 1, which includes Britt's preface explaining how the The Lumbee book was compiled and offering advice to researchers. But many Indians of the east coast died from smallpox and other European diseases after colonists first arrived. The lead singer of the Lumbee gospel group Carla and Redemption is an announcer on a gospel radio station. As the largest tribe east of the Mississippi and one of the largest in the country, the Lumbees have survived in their original homelands, maintaining a distinct identity as Indians in a biracial South.

    However, after their contact with Europeans, Lumbee farming and hunting both became primarily male jobs. It is your own personal interpretations of them that are inappropriate POV.
